The Sovereign is the head of state and nation of Kaharagia. The office gives the Kaharagian nation a single, accountable representative in whom the continuity and unity of the State are vested. It is neither personal rule nor mere ceremony: sovereignty is understood as a trust, exercised for the common good and within the constitutional order.
Accordingly, the Sovereign safeguards the lawful order of the State, upholds its institutions, and serves as a steady public voice in national and external affairs. The Sovereign also acts as custodian of Kaharagia's cultural and linguistic patrimony, ensuring that the nation's identity is preserved with care and integrity.
What follows sets out the role, responsibilities, and functions of the Sovereign in Kaharagian public life.
The Sovereign is the personal embodiment of the nation's continuity and the constitutional head of the Kaharagian State. In this role, the Sovereign:
The Sovereign does not exist to rule over persons for their own sake, but to serve the nation as its first citizen, to protect its institutions, and to ensure that authority remains a trust exercised for the common good of the Kaharagian people.
Prince Maximilian was born on 23 October 1990 in Detroit, Michigan (United States). He became the reigning Sovereign of the Principality of Kaharagia upon its foundation on 16 July 2010. In founding the state, he exercised the right of self-determination on behalf of a people united by shared conviction.
Educated in public schools, Prince Maximilian has long cultivated a passion for History and Religious Studies. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in History and a second Master's degree in Education. His academic interests continue to inform his leadership and vision for Kaharagia's civic and cultural life.
His Royal Highness is presently unmarried and without issue. In accordance with the laws of succession, the heir presumptive is his aunt, Her Royal Highness Princess Gloria. This designation remains provisional and shall be superseded by any legitimate offspring (adopted or natural) of the Sovereign.
As Head of State, Prince Maximilian carries both constitutional and ceremonial responsibilities. The Sovereign reigns with a lasting commitment to the welfare of his people and the good order of the State.
